Hard Times is a font specially designed for the magazine B-Seite. It presents a contrasting element to the Times font which is otherwise used—appropriate given that contrasts are the design topic for B-Seite. These appear in the printing process as well as the typography. Double spreads were printed first as a four-color, then alternating with glossy black and white. How much can be recognized on the shiny surface depends on the light quality, but one thing is clear: you can discover something new every time you take a look.
